Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim

If you are in the beautiful Cacela Velha already can keep going trough Ecovia (EuroVelo 1) in the opposite direction to Tavira and visit the Manta Rota Beach and then find the Praia Verde (Altura), where the sea and the naureza mix. If after you fancy visit a little inland Algarve beach cycle to Castro Marim.
Founded by the Templars, became one of the headquarters of the Order of Christ of Portugal. Also famous for being the city's mother the origin of the famous guitarist Paco de Lucía, Castro Marim has a special charm for its medieval castle. Goes the end of August, do not miss the Medieval Event, where all the city embodies the spirit of the Middle Ages and you can watch huge shows of artists from around the world, food and sale of medieval products.


Note: leave the bike outside the Castle.

You can ride to Monte Gordo, former fishing village, known for its warm waters and its night activities where the Casino wins fans from around the world.
You are about to reach Spain: The last city before that is Vila Real de Santo António (VRSA).


VRSA: If you continue to pedal you can find the last border town with Spain. Vila Real de Santo António, whose construction was planned at the end of the eighteenth century by the political Marquês de Pombal.
Architecturally follows the same concept of Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake rectangular structure full of white and low houses. It has the fantastic Church of Our Lady of the Assumption  (Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Assunção) and with a typical sidewalk Pombal time.
Also here you can take the boat and get to Spain, to the town of Ayamonte.
